To design programs that meet the career needs of postdoctoral scholars, it is essential to understand what those needs are. Sharona Gordon, professor of Physiology & Biophysics, together with Rebecca Price (UW-Bothell) and Ira Kantrowitz-Gordon (UW SON), recently published their work analyzing how postdoc’s scientific identities influenced their career goals. Their identified two discourses: bench scientists and principal investigator that limit postdoc’s perspectives of their career opportunities and transferability of their skills to different careers. This work was published in CBE – Life Science Education (17:ar29, 1-12, 2018) and was highlighted in Science (360, 978, June 1, 2018).
